Monthly Team Blog Hop (July 2020)

Welcome to my blog!

This month I’ve been working on designing Christmas cards using Stampin’ Up! products from the new August-December 2020 Mini Catalog that features holiday stamp bundles.  For me one of the signs that Christmas was on its way was the two story poinsettia tree that was always displayed in the mall when I was growing up. The “tree” was made up of thousands of individual poinsettia plants with a star placed at the top. I was always impressed with the beauty of each individual plant.

So the first card I made this year highlights the Poinsettia Petals Bundle and the Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper.  The Poinsettia Dies are especially realistic this year as they allow you to cut out the various sizes of the poinsettia leaf to stack them together and they also emboss the veins that appear on the leaves. To highlight this feature

I used the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to apply glitter inside the veins of the poinsettia leaves and the green leaves. The poinsettia bloom and the leaves really stand out when placed on the Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper. I love the feel of this paper as the areas in white are raised with fluffy material that really show the design. There are three designs that you can use for your holiday cards.

I attached a piece of the Double Stitched Real Red ribbon to the bottom of the card and stamped “Merry Christmas” from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set in Real Red ink onto a pieces of Whisper White cardstock. The last step was to add a beautiful Beaded Pearls embellishment to the center of the poinsettia bloom.

To finish the card, I stamped the full poinsettia stamp from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set using Real Red ink on the inside of the card and on the envelope.

  1. Great card Susan! The poinsettia is definitely a pre-cursor to Christmas here in Australia and one of my favourites! 🙂
