I’ve had lots of requests for birthday cards this week. I’ve been waiting to use the Grace’s Garden Bundle (stamp set and dies) to celebrate someone’s special birthday. My dear friend, Jean asked me to make a special card for her sister Paula’s birthday. So here is the card…
I especially like how the gate can open and close.
To make this card:
- Select a color for your card base and cut it at 5.5″ x 11.0″ and score at 4.25″. I selected the Balmy Blue cardstock for my base.
- Select a piece of cardstock to make the gate and cut it at 4.0″ x 5.25″. I used one of the new papers from the In Good Taste designer series paper pack. I love this pack as it has wood grains and lots of papers to make masculine cards. I selected this wood grain to make my gate.
- Cut the gate out using the gate die in the Garden Gateway Die set.
- Select a piece of cardstock and use the arch die in the set to cut out the piece to be placed “inside the gate”. I decided to use Whisper White cardstock.
- Use a number of scraps of Whisper White cardstock to stamp the flower images in the Grace’s Garden stamp set. I stamped all the flower images twice using Basic Gray ink. I didn’t use all the images on this card.
- Use markers or blends or watercolors to color the flowers and leaves. I hand colored all the flowers and leaves using markers. The markers I selected included Granny Apple Green, Garden Green, Just Jade, Daffodil Delight, Highland Heather, Melon Mambo, Flirty Flamingo, and Seaside Spray.
- Arrange and assemble the flower images on the card inside and outside of the gate.
- Stamp a sentiment from your favorite stamp set. I stamped “Happy Birthday” from the Seaside Notions stamp set in Night of Navy ink.
I encourage you to purchase the Grace’s Garden Bundle. I’m already planning to make some Wedding cards, Fall cards, Halloween cards, and Holiday cards using the gate.
If you decide you want to add this bundle and other supplies to your crafting stash, please use the Shop Now link at the top of this blog to order from me. The host code this month is XXHWBTCA.
